NOT ONLY HAVE YOU BEEN A BARISTA, BUT YOU ‘VE ALSO BEEN AN ARTIST FEATURED ON OUR ART WALL AND AN ARTISAN AT ONE OF OUR POP UP SHOPS… TELL US ABOUT THOSE EXPERIENCES AND WHAT THEY MEANT TO YOU.

"I was able to have a few prints of my 35mm film on the wall and it was just a special time. Every time customers would comment on or buy a piece, it would make me feel so loved. My pottery was also for sale at a popup shop and that was the first time we got to show our new pottery business and it was just a humbling experience. We felt so loved by our community."

IF YOU COULD BE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW, WHERE WOULD THAT BE?

"Sydney, Australia… I dont think I need to explain this one. My name is Sydney that’s it.

"I’ve pretty analytical as well as creative. I love science and how it relates to Christianity. If we get in a conversation on apologetics I can go for hours. My dad also taught me to use common sense, so I am always thinking logically before creatively. How can I complete the tasks I want in a realistic way. I still dream, but I try to use practical steps."

WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU’VE ENJOYED SEEING RMC GROW IN IN YOUR TWO YEARS?

"I’m amazed at not only RMC, but our community. They support us so well even when Covid first hit. We were really scared and thought we would go out of business, but my bosses and coworkers came together to make it easier to work through and the community supported us. We feel so loved on by everyone who came in or ordered online, and it helped our creativity and flexibility as a team."

HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR TIME ABROAD AND BREAK FROM WORKING AT RMC HELPED YOU BECOME A BETTER BARISTA?

"I feel like it made me realize how much about coffee I actually had come to know. Learning about other cultures and how they prepare coffee versus our version in America was a game changer."
